1. What Radar does
Radar uses location information to show nearby users, professionals, requests or opportunities according to mode, radius, filters and visibility settings. Location is a core feature but remains permission-based.
2. Permission and control
- Orrbbit requests location permission through the device operating system.
- Users may deny or revoke permission at any time.
- Users may pause visibility, change radius, switch modes or close the app.
- Background location will not be used unless a specific feature requires it, the user has granted the applicable permission and the use is clearly explained.
- Some features will not function without location permission.
3. Precise versus approximate location
The device may provide precise coordinates to Orrbbit. Orrbbit uses those coordinates to calculate proximity but displays only an approximate map area, distance band, radius or relative presence to other users. Exact coordinates must not be exposed through ordinary user interfaces or public APIs.
4. Accuracy limits
Location may be delayed, inaccurate or unavailable because of device settings, signal conditions, network access, operating-system restrictions or mapping data. A location indicator must not be treated as proof that a person is currently present, available or safe to approach.
5. Retention
- Precise live coordinates: normally no more than 24 hours.
- Approximate proximity and encounter records: up to 90 days.
- Safety-related location evidence: up to 7 years where connected to a report, dispute or legal obligation.
- Backups: overwritten within 90 days unless subject to a legal or security hold.
6. Prohibited location use
- Stalking, following, surveillance or monitoring.
- Inferring a home, workplace, routine or sensitive destination.
- Using multiple accounts, screenshots, repeated refreshes or external tools to increase precision.
- Sharing another person’s location without permission.
- Using location information to discriminate, threaten, rob, exploit or confront someone.
7. Safety design
- Approximate display and privacy fuzzing.
- User-controlled visibility and pause settings.
- Limits on the number and precision of nearby results.
- Block and report tools.
- Monitoring for suspicious location queries or scraping.
- Ability to restrict location access for accounts under investigation.
8. Law enforcement and emergencies
Orrbbit may preserve or disclose location information when legally required or when reasonably necessary to respond to an imminent threat, subject to applicable law. Orrbbit does not guarantee that location information will be available or accurate for emergency response.
